Over the past 100 years, Peter Café Sport has become a place of support for yachtsmen who cross the Atlantic, such as a bar, restaurant, information point, post-rest, currency exchange, meteorological delegation and sometimes the house of mercy, thus becoming a symbol of genuine friendship for all those who pass by.In this room, among the dozens of wooden boards, painted by the spectrum of flags worn by the sun, by the sea, and by so much life, you can hear a cacophony of babel, the singing of peoples, nations, and the despaired vagabonds that now, even if only briefly, they found a home, day after day … year after year … a decade after decade.
A coffee at first sight like so many others – two counters, shelves where runs, whiskeys and gins, and tables and chairs filled with people eating, drinking, talking.They are manifested from the blue of the façade, a legacy of the Great Wars, to pieces of art in bone and whale teeth, reflections of toil, hard life, suffering and sorrow of the Azorean survival. Insignia, stickers, letters and drawings, nothing less than materialized memories of the presence of a World, of people from countries and continents, and of all those who move among the waves, with life between their fists and the future between their fingers, caressed by the rough hand of life, callused by the texture of a sheet.
